Operations Manager





Purpose

To manage the day to day operation of a specialist operations team ensuring the highest standards of financial and operational performance. To constantly strive to improve service and quality standards. To bring technical leadership and play a key role in the wider Operations Management team supporting cross functional activities to deliver the strategic and tactical objectives.



Key Responsibilities

* Provide strong leadership and management for a specialist team ensuring alignment with company objectives
* Contribute to strategic improvement initiatives across operations and drive continuous improvement activities
* Plan, organise and control resourcing requirements to achieve target levels of effectiveness and service whilst maintaining quality standards and remaining within budget
* Review and monitor departmental throughput to meet the key performance targets of the specialist area and producing reports and statistics for wider publication
* Manage operations to ensure processes are dealt with efficiently and effectively, specifically encompassing spend management, counter fraud activity and operation expense control
* Lead by example in achieving continual quality improvement through ensuring total commitment to satisfying customer needs and meeting/exceeding service standards
* Guide Team Leaders in continually enhancing the performance and productivity of teams, the quality of output and in developing and supporting cost saving initiatives with the aim of minimising leakage
* Be aware of and act upon all compliance matters, e.g. TCF, data protection, money laundering, etc. in compliance with Lloyds and FCA/FOS regulations
* Ensure effective handling of complaints in accordance with complaint handling procedures
* Ownership of specific supply chain partner where designated
* Manage team performance through regular 121's with Team Leaders, team meetings and performance reviews
* Work closely with the Technical Training team and continually identify, plan and fulfil employee development and training activity to ensure the team has the necessary skills and capabilities in place to operate effectively
* Develop and coach the team to improve team competency and performance ensuring clear development plans exist for all team members and succession plans are in place for key roles
* Proactively identify and address poor performance issues through improvement plans enforcing effective discipline as required
* Promote a culture of communication and employee involvement and instil into everyday activity
* Maintain high levels of employee engagement
* Maintain office standards and discipline, implementing disciplinary procedures when required in accordance with Company Policy
* Responsible for ensuring that all processes are carried out in accordance with Company requirements
* Maintain an up to date knowledge within the team of legislation, case law, social and market developments in order to protect and promote the Company's competitive position
* Represent the Company externally being seen as a Company specialist on effective operational processes
* Ensure compliance to health, safety and environmental matters highlighting issues as they arise
* Engage in own self development
* Provide effective representation on the Swansea Operations Management team
* Carry out other reasonable tasks as required by line management
